Wisdom Facilitators

Home / Wisdom Facilitators
Our WISDOM Facilitators are certified teachers, who work with us to help you reach your goals in educating your children, while at the same time satisfying Alberta Education requirements.

Michele Barter

Michele earned her B. Ed. in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1986. She’s had a variety of teaching experiences from preschool through grade 12. Michele is currently in her thirteenth year as a facilitator and she enjoys serving our WISDOM families. Her vision is the encouragement to take heart, presented in Matthew 6:33- “Seek first the kingdom of heaven and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Michelle is also retained as an instructor for Wisdom Ballroom Dance camps and workshops. Learning to Ballroom Dance helps cultivate social skills in young people, and offers an elevated social event, a wonderful opportunity for the whole family.

Joan Bishop

Joan is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan and taught school in southern Saskatchewan for a few years before she and husband Barry began raising a family.

Joan Bishop was a home schooling mom herself for almost 30 years.  She and Barry have five children and three grandchildren. They live on an acreage near Gwynne and are very actively involved with the Camrose Christian Home Educators.

As a WISDOM family for many years, and former PAC members, the Bishops are very thankful to support and help home schooling families. Joan joined our WISDOM team as a Facilitator in 2011 and loves to meet with families to discuss home education and child rearing. She’s passionate about Christ, families and home education, firmly believing that it is the best educational choice for the whole family.

Rachelle Godin

Rachelle has a B.Ed. in Elementary French Immersion from the University of Alberta.

She believes through homeschooling one is able to allow their faith to colour everything we do. “Lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul. And teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” (Deuteronomy 11: 18, 19)

Randy Kopp

Randy has lived in the Edson area for over 22 years. He advocates the pursuit and stewardship of one’s God-given talents and passions. He enjoys hiking, canoeing, fishing, hunting, gardening, golf, traveling and playing board games.

Mark Meakes

Mark began as a facilitator with WISDOM in 1998. He, and his wife Lorena, live on an acreage northeast of Westlock. They enjoy the many activities of country life including working with the horses they raise. Mark hopes that through these experiences he can share encouragement and practical ideas with the families placed under his care.

Joe Pollock

Joe was formerly a Financial Analyst, then made a career change and became a high school Physics and Chemistry teacher. He was offered a position with WISDOM in the fall of 1997 and now has over 13 years of facilitating experience.

What drew Joe to home schooling were the young adults that his wife Diane met while attending a home schooling conference in 1997. Home schooling has helped him keep his focus on faith and family, while allowing children to pursue excellence in academics, as well as their individual interests. It is his hope that in family, academic pursuits, and all that we do, we give glory to God.

Kim Schultz

Kim completed her Bachelor of Education degree here in Alberta.

She joined WISDOM in 2006 and is thankful she’s been able to enlarge her borders by sharing the adventure together with her husband Dan. She enjoyed getting to know families as Dan and Kim championed WISDOM with others on the Parent Advisory Council for the first two years. In the fall of 2008, she began visiting families as a facilitator. She finds it heartwarming to meet with home education families, to see what they are learning and accomplishing, to listen to their stories, and to encourage them in their journey.

Louis Sehn

Louis background includes studies in the sciences, employment as a park warden in National Parks, and dairy farming, before pursuing a career in education. He then taught grades 9 – 12 in the public system for 16 years.

He sees education as much more than achieving academic success; and believes parents are best able to accomplish the formation of the whole child. He believes learning is something we should enjoy rather than just something we must do, that home education is often challenging, but always rewarding.

Louis finds working with staff and families who have Christ as their focus is very inspiring. Meeting and having the opportunity to grow alongside other home schooling families has been a very unique and rewarding experience. His hope is that his experience and passion for home education may be helpful and encouraging to others, and that, through the grace of God, we all grow in holiness and truth, and live simple and prayerful lives that give glory to God.

Glenn Spiess

Glenn has spent the last 20 years in a variety of roles within the educational field. As a teacher he spent time in both the public, separate school environments and has worked extensively within the homeschool community as a homeschooling facilitator with WISDOM.

These experiences have provided him numerous opportunities, skills and exposure to people from all walks of life. His desire to serve God and others is evident in his interactions within these communities.

John Miller

After thirty years of public system teaching John retired and became a facilitator with WISDOM in the fall of 2001.

He enjoys working for with WISDOM and home schooling families because they have a strong commitment to family values and put effort into teaching a balanced education for the whole child.

Paul van den Bosch

Paul and his wife Mary have been married more than 30 years, have seven children, and have been educating for over 20 years. The family loves Socratic discussion because it is not just a form of education but a part of daily life – during tea times, during meal times, while driving to an event or a fiddle lesson. As Mary says, “we have a deep commitment to classical education. It is a part of our life.”

Simon Noster

Simon grew up in rural Alberta, attended California’s Thomas Aquinas College in 2005, and came back home to Alberta with a BA, and his wife Nicole. He continued his education at Concordia in Edmonton, receiving his B.Ed in 2011. He then taught jr. high with the Catholic board in Cold Lake, making time for his many hobbies that include music, sailing, BBQing, photography and many outdoor pursuits. Simon and Nicole have three young daughters. He is excited to begin working with home schooling families with WISDOM this Fall.
